First Lady’s Rehab Centre Makes a Difference : 100 Admitted in Just a Week

Barely a week after its official launch, the Angel of Hope Drug Rehabilitation Centre which is a brainchild of First Lady Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa has already admitted over 100 individuals seeking recovery from drug and substance abuse.

Located at Stodart Arena, the rehabilitation centre accommodates up to 200 patients and offers basic education, medical treatment, social support through counseling and rigorous physical activity.

Dr Mnangagwa’s Angel of Drug Rehabilitation Centre will focus on engaging patients through workouts and therapeutic interventions aimed at flashing toxins from their bodies.

This initiative buttresses the drive in tackling behavioural issues such as rebellious and disrespectful acts.

In an interview, the member of parliament Martin Matinyanya welcomed the noble development and said he has mobilised resources and arrange modalities of the ‘graduates’ of the rehabilitation session.

“We have mobilised resources from community businessmen and other stakeholders and we have set in place modalities to empower the reformed individuals .

“We will set up projects for them to keep them occupied and financially empower them through various projects in line with Vision 2030,”said Honourable Matinyanya.

Mbare has been one of the bedrock of drug and substance abuse and this development goes a long way in solving this ‘cancer’ that has bedevilled society.

Mrs Mary Muchinjo commended the setting up of drug rehabilitation in their community.

She indicated that her 20-year-old girl is a beneficiary of the initiative by Dr Mnangagwa.

“My daughter was lured into drug and substance abuse by her friends.

“Honourable Matinyanya through the program by First Lady, has indicated that after the rehabilitation our children will get projects to venture into.

“We are positive that this rehabilitation centre will go a long way in saving lives around Mbare,” said Mrs Muchinjo.

Passengers Association of Zimbabwe Mr Tafadzwa Goliati welcomed the setting up of a rehabilitation centre in Mbare.

“As an association, we were worried about the behaviour of our drivers and conductors about drug and substance abuse.

“We are in the process of engaging Mbare MP Matinyanya to assist us in admitting some of them in the rehabilitation,” he said.
