Mnangagwa Declares Chitungwiza Road Accident a National Disaster

Garwe Defends Calls for Mnangagwa to Lead Until 2030

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared the road traffic accident that occurred along Seke Road on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of 17 people, a national disaster.

 

The announcement was delivered by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, during a memorial service held at Doves Funeral Services in Chitungwiza.

 

“This is a national tragedy, and Government will provide full support to all affected families,” said Garwe. He confirmed that the state will cover all funeral expenses for the victims.

 

The accident, which involved a commuter omnibus and a heavy vehicle, left several others injured. Government officials said they are closely monitoring the condition of the injured, and efforts are underway to ensure they receive medical attention.

 

Garwe also announced that the affected families will be provided with humanitarian assistance, including food supplies and logistical support to aid in funeral preparations.

 

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
